COMMUNITY KITCHEN PROJECT

Established by the MSA at UCD's Dawah & Service Committee, the Community Kitchen Project is service established and run by the UCD MSA to provide halal, affordable meals from local muslim kitchens to us, the muslim college students at UCD.

Using this service not only provides work for muslim individuals in financial need within the Davis muslim community, but as muslim college students, we can eat halal meals hassle-free, eat home-made, tasty food on a budget, and save time by not having to cook or go to a take-out truck every day to access halal meals. What makes this service unique compared to a take-out truck is that the meals are provided in small catering portions that provide quantities of food that will last throughout the week.

Each week, a main entrée, starch, and a side dish(s) are placed on the food menu. You get to choose how many boxes of each food type you would like. Submit your order, pay online, and pick up food Sunday night at the masjid!

LOANS/SCHOLARSHIPS

The objective of the scholarship program is to provide scholarships for Muslim students who are unable to cover the costs of education with their parents' income. Two types of scholarships are awarded quarterly: a need-based and merit-based, to which multiple winners are selected.

Unfortunately, it is a very known and sad reality that many students struggle with finances in order to obtain their college degree. The aim of the MSA at UCD is to lessen the burden upon our community members by offering them some financial assistance whilst still involving them in the community.

The program is fully dependent on the generous donations of local community members and we genuinely appreciate all donations and forms of aid. Please do not hesitate to give sadaqah in the name of a worthy cause for our students and reach out to the MSA at UCD for any questions regarding donations or the program!

FEED THE HOMELESS

One of the most beautiful activities and services the MSA at UCD offers is Feed the Homeless. The Dawah and Service Committee (DSC) brings the community together monthly to create lunches and care packages t to benefit the Davis/Sacramento homeless community.

DSC is always looking for new volunteers to help pack lunches, as well as distribute them after Jumuah salah every month! If you are ever interested in being a part of this beautiful process please contact any board member or stay on the look out for our next Feed the Homeless event! Events are usually posted on our Facebook page that you can find in the link below.
